I’m not here to make you perform or act out a romantic movie scene (unless you want to!). For me, an engagement session is just about documenting this specific chapter of your lives. It’s a chance to take an hour or two to hang out, explore a spot you love, and get some great photos while you're at it.
I keep things calm and low-pressure. I encourage couples to bring along things that reflect how they actually spend their time. Whether that’s a deck of cards, a favorite board game, a bottle of wine, or even your dog—having an activity helps take the focus off the camera and keeps the session feeling like a normal afternoon.
I include an engagement session in almost all of my wedding packages because it’s a practical part of the process. It helps us get the "first-time" nerves out of the way long before the wedding begins.

How do we choose a location?
First we'll chat about what vibe you're looking for - maybe you're outdoorsy and want to go on a hike for some unique mountain views, or you're city people who are looking for a Denver skyline backdrop. I have plenty of spots to recommend but I’m always open to suggestions. If you have a place that’s meaningful to you, like your favorite bookstore or your own home, we can start there.
What is the turnaround time?
You’ll receive your full edited gallery within three weeks.
What if it rains or snows?
If it’s a total washout or a blizzard, we’ll just look at our calendars and find a backup date that works for both of us at no extra cost. However, I’m always a fan of leaning into the elements. Overcast skies, light rain, or snow can create a really unique mood and often result in some of my favorite photos. If you’re down to grab an umbrella or some boots and embrace it, I am too.
What should we wear?
Wear something you actually feel like yourself in. If you never wear a suit or a formal dress, don’t feel like you have to start now. Simple, neutral colors usually work best on camera, but the most important thing is that you’re comfortable and not fidgeting with your clothes the whole time.
We’re awkward in front of a camera. Is that okay?
Most people feel this way. My job is to give you enough direction so you aren't standing there wondering what to do with your hands, but not so much that you feel like a mannequin. We’ll keep the session moving and low-pressure most couples realize it’s much easier than they expected.
Do you offer retouching?
I edit every photo for color, contrast, and lighting to match the look you see in my portfolio. I don’t do heavy "Photoshopping" or body Alterations because I want the photos to be an honest representation of you. If there’s a temporary blemish or a stray hair, I’m happy to take care of that.
Can we choose the time of day?
I usually recommend starting about 90 minutes before sunset or after sunrise. The light is softer and more flattering then. If that doesn't work for your schedule, we can find a location with enough shade or interesting architecture to make mid-day light work, too.
How do we book?
Once we pick a date, I’ll send over a digital contract and an invoice for a retainer. Once those are handled, you’re officially on my calendar. The remaining balance is due on the day of our session.
